The accumulation of fat in your body, and how difficult it is for you to lose it is mostly caused by genetics.
The genes are the ones that determine where our body will store fat and how many fat cells we will have. Men usually gain fat in their belly because of the male hormone testosterone, and women mostly store fat on the thighs, hips, and butt because of the female hormone estrogen.
Therefore, when women get old and the production of estrogen decreases, they will also store fat in the abdominal area. Even though men usually store more fat than women, they also tend to lose it easier.
The body shape can also determine how fast you will lose fat:
Pear-shaped: The lower body parts are larger than the upper body. You will probably have flat belly, but you will have difficult time to lose the fat from the lower body, whereas you will easily lose fat from the upper body.
Inverted-triangle: The upper body is bigger than the lower body, and you probably have most of the fat accumulated in the arms and the trunk. It is difficult for you to lose fat in general and to have a flat belly. Also, this type of body has deeper belly fat, which is why fat loss from the belly is the most important thing.
Big and fat belly is usually made from eating too many calories and the wrong foods, as well as not exercising enough. You are probably heavier in your legs and the hips. If you want to lose the belly fat, you will have to change your lifestyle habits. You will need to eat foods that will help you lose fat and exercise regularly so you can burn more fat and strengthen the abs.
Stress belly is caused by the stress hormone cortisol which gets stored into the abdomen area. When the body has high levels of cortisol, it will most of the times mean that the person will have more belly fat. Cortisol levels can be increased also by drinking too much coffee and alcohol, and smoking.
After giving birth the uterus becomes heavier than before getting pregnant which makes it drop. The uterus will eventually return in its original size, but it will take approximately 6 weeks. Also, the abdominal muscles become split after pregnancy down the middle. So, you shouldn’t immediately think about hitting the gym and doing crunches or other exercises for flat abs because it will not be worth.
You should give yourself some time to heal and you can get in shape after few months. You should talk to your doctor first if you’ve given birth with a C-section because it is important that the muscles are completely healed before you start to exercise.
If you want to achieve your pre-pregnancy body you should strengthen the deepest layer of the tummy muscles and the pelvic floor muscles because they will support the organs in the abdomen. You should try the Kegel exercise for your pelvis. Also, you should do exercises that will make your core stronger and the belly flatter.
Your belly is most likely to be bloated if you start your day with a flat belly, and it becomes bigger and you have gasses. You can have a bloated belly regardless your weight. It can become bloated from poor diet, food intolerance, sluggish bowels, or bacteria.
