The white area under the bed of the nail which is crescent-shaped is called lunula, or commonly known as moons. That is the part of our nails which is visible.
Our nails should have clear lunulae, which will tell whether that person is healthy and energetic. The more energy the person has, the whiter the moons are. In other instances they can be vague and poor.
They can also tell whether the person has a disease if the moons have different color, or the shape is disappearing. Keep reading to find out what the lunulae can tell about your health.
What Moons On Your Nails Warn You About Your Health Problems
1. If the LUNULAE are too large
If the moons can be seen on more of the third of the nail, then they are considered to be large. This indicates that the person has cardiovascular issues, low blood pressure, and heartbeat disruption.
People who are very physically active have larger moons. Therefore, if you aren’t an athlete or overly active and you have large moons, you may be under stress.
2. If the LUNULAE are too small
If you have small moons it can mean that your immunity is weak, you lack iron, vitamin B12, or you have low blood pressure or some circulatory disorders. Also, if the lunulae are separated from the other part of the nail bed it can mean that you have problems with the blood sugar levels.
3. If one finger has a different lunula from the other ones
The moons of the thumb are linked with the work of the spleen and the lungs. It shouldn’t take more than 25% of the whole nail. If you have arterial hypertension it can get bigger, and if you smoke it can get smaller.
The moons of the index finger can get smaller or become invisible if your pancreas and intestines don’t function properly. The moons of the middle finger are linked with your brain and the cardiovascular system.
If you don’t have lunula on your middle finger, it can mean that you suffer from high blood pressure. The moons of the ring finger are linked with the lymphatic and the reproductive systems. If this lunula is invisible it can mean that you have problems with the digestion.
Usually, the moons on the little fingers are barely visible, and they are linked with the work of the heart, kidneys, and the small intestine.
4. If you can’t see the lunulae at all
If you are not able to see the moons on your child’s nails you shouldn’t worry. It is completely normal to have invisible lunulae, and they can appear after some time.
But, if you notice that the moons disappear suddenly it can mean that you have a circulatory disorder, or you lack iron, vitamin B12, or a thyroid dysfunction.
5. Different lunulae color
If the moons of your nails are white, it means they are healthy. When the color is grey it can mean that you are fatigued, or you have some digestion issues.
If the moons are purple it can mean that your body lacks oxygen and you have a poor blood circulation. If they are pink or red it can mean that you have lung problems, or you are not sufficiently active.
When the moons look black it is a very dangerous sign which means that you have a heavy metal poisoning.
